RE: Dean Munier Update Dear______________________________, I am writing to everyone listed at the bottom of this letter so the information will be as accurate as possible and all the same information just as I did 2 years ago when I wrote to tell you that Fred Munier’s middle son, Dean, had been diagnosed with lymphoma-sarcoma, a very serious cancer. In the past 2 years, he has been through a lot. The usual radiation, chemo, etc. etc. They could not operate to take out the cancer unless they took out his entire left hip, part of his spine and of course much of his colon, etc. He would have been wheel chair bound the rest of his life -- and he elected NOT to have that surgery. That was last fall, if I remember correctly. Last January, Fred flew to Oklahoma City, and with ‘Little Freddie,’ went to see Dean for his birthday. Dean knew his brother was coming, but to see his father walk up, too, was a complete and wonderful surprise. They had a wonderful male-bonding day -- doing what ever Dean wanted to do. One main thing was to go look at and talk about trucks. Dean’s usual weight is 150 +/-; In January it was 115; In the last month it has shot up to 200 lbs. That is all water weight, settled in his legs and abdomen. He is also on a morphine drip. The latest info this week is that they have uped the morphine, the tumor has grown from 8 to 15 inches, he is on chemo again, and he has lost 10 lbs. from that 200. I spent June 10-20 visiting Fred and family, and had a wonderful visit. While I was there, Gina, Freddie’s wife, emailed the Muniers, then Robin called and they talked. That is when we learned that Dean was getting so bad. Today, Joseph emailed me that Diana told Gina that 2 months ago, the doctors told her Dean had about 6 months, 12 at the max, to live. Dean does NOT know this; Diana is keeping it from him!! We wait day by day, now. I have promised Fred that I WILL be there for him in Oklahoma for the funeral. However, I am booked and have paid for a 3 week trip to Italy. If it happens Aug 23-Sept 17, Fred knows that I can’t get out of that commitment. Otherwise, I will drop everything and go on a moment’s notice. I WILL drive down, even if I have to go alone. If I do go alone, I will take Brandy, my Sheltie with me for some company and protection, even if taking the dog in summer heat will be a real pain and problem. She will not go with me if I can get someone to drive down to Oklahoma with me. If anyone in the family could go with me, I sure would love it. That is about all we know for now, but I will keep you posted. I have Dean’s address if you want to send cards.: Dean Munier, 10920 S. Elgin Ave., Jenks, OK 74037. (I got it off the internet!!) I have sent Dean several letters and cards over the past 2 years. And in Jan, Fred took him the book of what I have done so far on the Family History. He was most appreciative, and said “It’s about time someone in this family did this.” I will be driving up to New Madison on July 18 for the usual Rasor Reunion. Lunch is at 1:00 PM and it usually folds up about 2:30. I will probably be calling some of you about dropping by for a short visit on my way home from the reunion if that would be convenient. We can talk then. Much Love, Cary & Lindsay Brown (please tell Gary & Gale’s family); Francis and Doris Brown (please tell Ronnie and Connie); Glenn & Evelyn Brown; Bruce & Miriam Shue; Max & Dottie Munier.
