In the summer of 1970 mother told me that before I was born, mother and dad had both agreed on the name Carolyn. Dad wanted to name me Carolyn Joanne and mother wanted to name me Carolyn Ruth.
When there was a conflict between what daddy wanted and what mother wanted, Daddy always won, so I was named Carolyn Joanne.
I had never heard the story before, but the minute I heard the name Carolyn Ruth, I realized that that was my name.
So when I was 39 years old, I started using the name Carolyn Ruth. Mother died in 1971, and in 1972 I legally changed my name to Carolyn Ruth to honor my mother.
